Why we're doing this
The Western Herald and WIDR are teaming together to provide the Western Michigan University community with the best news, entertainment and opportunities. While each organization brings their own strengths, together we can give the best media experience while preparing students for future careers.
Recently, funding from the University to these media groups has been reduced, making it more difficult for the Western Herald and WIDR to provide
media opportunities. Young Broadcasters of Tomorrow (YBOT), is a new organization tailored to students interested in careers in broadcast. In order to generate the necessary funds for all three organizations (as well as any other media organizations interested in joining), WMU students can vote for a small student assessment fee that will allow the organizations to provide excellent content and future career opportunities.

Vote Yes! - What does this mean?
In the third week of March, the fate of student media will go to a vote through the Western Student Association election. Students can vote to save WMU's media (radio, news and entertainment) in a week-long election by voting yes to spend around just $5 each semester. This would translate into the radio broadcasts from WIDR, the news from the Western Herald and content generated from Young Broadcasters of Tomorrow. Other benefits of voting yes include career opportunities, networking within the Kalamazoo-area and becoming a part of WMU's history.
